Ingredients

  • 500 g bread (s), stale, also different types and whole rain bread
  • 0.5 liter ½ milk
  • 75 g butter
  • 3 egg (s)
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 7 tablespoon sugar
  • 5 tablespoon flour
  • 150 g walnuts
  • 4 apples
  • cinnamon
  • 1 shot rum

Instructions

  1. Cut the old bread into small pieces and pour milk over it so that it is well covered. Let it stand for 30 minutes, stir in between so that everything is really soft.
  2. Peel and core the apples and cut into large wedges. Roughly chop the walnuts with a knife and put half of them in a bowl with the apples. Add a dash of rum, 3 tablespoons of sugar and cinnamon and let it steep for 15 minutes. Stirring occasionally.
  3. Squeeze out the bread, pour off the excess milk. Add the remaining walnuts, 3 eggs, 4 tablespoons of sugar, the baking powder and 3-5 tablespoons of flour to the bread and stir well. The dough should have about the consistency of a firmer pulp.
  4. Grease a springform pan with butter and spread half of the batter in it. Place the apple wedges with the walnuts on top and press in a little. Spread the rest of the batter on top. Put the other half of the dough on top and distribute again well. All apple pieces should be covered. Last so that the apple pieces are covered. Spread the butter flakes on top of the dough.
