Ingredients

  • 500 g pasta, (twisted pasta or other short pasta)
  • 200 g cooked ham, cut into small cubes
  • 1 can peas
  • 250 ml cream
  • 375 ml milk
  • 250 g cheese, (Gouda or Emmentaler), rated
  • 1 onion (s), finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic)
  • salt and pepper
  • Margarine, or butter, for frying

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta in plenty of salted water until al dente and drain. Let cool down. Drain the peas as well.
  2. Fry the onion in a little margarine or butter with the peeled garlic. Fry the ham and the peas. Add the cream and milk (simply pour into the empty cream jar to save measuring) and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and season well with salt and pepper, simmer for about 5 minutes. Remove the garlic (if you like to eat garlic, you can of course cut the garlic and cook it).
  3. Put the pasta in a baking dish and mix about half of the cheese with the cooled pasta, pour the finished sauce over it and stir everything, then spread the rest of the cheese over it. Bake in the preheated oven at 200 ° C top / bottom heat on the middle rack for about 20 minutes until the cheese has the desired golden brown color.

  5. Of course, you can also replace the milk portion with cream, I`ve tried both variants and don`t notice any difference (except on the scales).
