Cabbage Schnitzel with Cheese

A delicious dish that even little kids eat with pleasure is cabbage schnitzel. The schnitzel tastes a bit like baked cauliflower, although it is made from white cabbage.

Ingredients

  • Young white cabbage – 1 small head
  • Eggs – 2 pcs.
  • Mayonnaise or sour cream – 2 tbsp
  • Hard cheese – 40 g
  • Bread crumbs – 40 g
  • Vegetable oil – 40 ml
  • Salt – 3 g
  • Ground black pepper – 3 g

Directions

  1. Grate hard cheese in a bowl on a fine grater. Add eggs, salt, and ground pepper to the cheese. Add mayonnaise or sour cream. 
  2. Stir with a whisk.
  3. Pour water into a saucepan and bring it to a boil. Cut the cabbage into 4 pieces and put in boiling water. Boil the cabbage for 5-8 minutes.
  4. Dip the boiled cabbage in the egg mixture.
  5. Then roll in breadcrumbs.
  6. Pour oil into the pan, heat it for literally 10-15 seconds. Put the breaded cabbage in the heated oil. Fry cabbage schnitzels over medium heat for 3 minutes on each side.
  7. When the schnitzels have a fried crust, remove them from the pan.
  8. Serve hot cabbage schnitzels. Enjoy your meal!
