Steam the chopped onion in the pan until translucent and add the mince. Season with salt and pepper. You can add a little more salt and pepper to the mince, it will later be lost in the soup. Peel and quarter the potatoes, cut the cabbage and carrots into bite-sized sizes and add to the seared mince. Add enough water (approx. 1-2 liters) until everything is just covered. Add the caraway seeds and the stock, season a little more with salt and pepper and let simmer for about 30 minutes.
Also great for singles, you can eat two days of it and freeze a good portion.
