Cabbage Stewed with Chicken, Pumpkin and Apples

Stewed cabbage with chicken will be more interesting and healthy if you add pumpkin and apples. Pumpkin will add sweetness to the dish, and apples – a pleasant sourness. The dish turns out to be juicy, nutritious and aromatic.

Ingredients

  • White cabbage – 800 g
  • Chicken fillet – 400 g (2 pcs.)
  • Pumpkin – 200 g
  • Apples (sour) – 250-300 g (2 pcs.)
  • Bulb onions (large) – 150 g
  • Garlic – 2 cloves
  • Dried dill – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Ground nutmeg – a pinch
  • Water – 50 ml
  • Vegetable oil – 5 tbsp

Directions

  1. Cut the chicken fillet into small thin pieces.
  2. Heat the pan well with 2 tablespoon. tablespoons of oil, put the chicken, and fry it until the light crust (4-5 minutes). Then transfer the fillets to a plate.
  3. Peel the onions, and pumpkin and apples – from the peel and seeds. Chop the onion, pumpkin, and apples into small cubes.
  4. In the pan in which the chicken was cooked, pour in a little more oil (1 tablespoon) and put the chopped onions, pumpkin, and apples.
  5. While stirring, fry the contents of the pan for 4-5 minutes, until the onions are transparent.
  6. Chop the cabbage into short strips.
  7. Peel and chop the garlic. Heat a deep skillet or saucepan with the remaining oil, add the garlic and fry it quickly (40-60 seconds).
  8. Put chopped cabbage in a pan with garlic and, stirring, fry it for 10 minutes.
  9. After the indicated time, add chicken fillet and onion with pumpkin and apples to the cabbage.
  10. Add salt, ground pepper, dried dill, and nutmeg. Pour in some water and mix everything.
  11. Simmer the cabbage under the lid, stirring occasionally, until the desired softness (time can vary from 20 to 30 minutes).
