Ingredients

For the meat:

  • 250 g minced beef
  • 250 g minced lamb
  • 1 small onion (s)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 100 g feta cheese
  • 3 tablespoon breadcrumbs
  • salt and pepper
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Mix spices, Turkish (minced meat spice)

For the rice:

  • 1 ½ cup rice
  • 1 onion (s)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 3 tablespoon ajvar, spicy
  • 1 cube chicken broth
  • 1 can tomato (s), chunky
  • 1 bell pepper (s)
  • 2 cup water
  • 200 g peas (frozen)
  • salt and pepper
  • possibly Tabasco

For the dip: (Tzatziki)

  • 200 g yourt, Greek (10% fat)
  • 0.5 ½ cucumber (s)
  • 2 cloves garlic)
  • 2 tablespoon white wine vinegar
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Mix the minced beef and lamb well. Finely dice the onion and garlic and add to the minced meat. Then cut the feta cheese into small cubes and also add to the mince. Now season the minced meat vigorously. Mix in some breadcrumbs if necessary. Then shape small, elongated meatballs out of the meat dough.
  2. Heat a non-stick pan with olive oil and fry the cevapcici in it until crispy. Keep warm in the oven.
  3. Put some olive oil in a saucepan and sweat the onions and garlic in it. Then add the rice and sauté briefly. Then add the chopped tomatoes, the ajvar, the water, the stock cube and the peas. Let simmer for about 15-20 minutes. Shortly before the end, fold in the diced paprika. Season to taste with salt, pepper and possibly Tabasco.
  4. For the tzatziki, cut the cucumber in half and remove the seeds. Then grate the cucumber into fine strips on a kitchen grater. Add this to the yogurt. Press the garlic and add it as well. Then add the vinegar. Then season everything with salt and pepper.
  5. Serve the cevapcici with the rice, the tzatziki and possibly flatbread.
