Chocolate Cake Black Forest

Recipe for making a chocolate cake with coffee, applesauce and chocolate icing.

Ingredients

  • Buttermilk – 1 Glass
  • Eggs – 2 Pieces
  • Vanilla extract – 1 Teaspoon
  • Sugar – 2 Glasses
  • Soda – 2 Teaspoons
  • Baking powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt – 1/2 Teaspoon
  • For icing: semi-sweet chocolate – 270 Grams

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees. Grease a cake tin with butter and lightly dust with flour. Whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Set aside.
  2. In a separate medium bowl, beat eggs and applesauce together, then add the iced coffee, vanilla and cream. 
  3. Gradually add the egg mixture to the flour mixture, stir until a homogeneous consistency is obtained. Pour the chocolate cake batter into the prepared mold. Bake the cake for 45-60 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow the finished cake to cool in the mold, then remove from the mold and allow to cool completely.
  4. While the cake is cooling, prepare the chocolate icing. Melt the chocolate in a water bath. In a saucepan, bring the cream to a low boil and immediately pour into the chocolate. Stir with a whisk until the chocolate is completely melted.
  5. Let the icing cool slightly and pour over the cake. Chill cake before serving.
