  • 60 g butter, cold
  • 150 ml whole milk
  • 1 egg (s) for brushing

Instructions

  1. Sufficient for approx. 9 scones.
  2. Preheat the oven to 190 ° C top / bottom heat. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Mix the flour with baking powder, sugar and salt. Rub the cold butter in pieces with your finger under the flour until it has the consistency of crumbly sand. Alternatively, use the food processor to work the butter into the flour. Put the flour mixture back into the bowl and make a well in the middle. Pour milk into the well and use a fork to fold in the flour until the dough comes together.
  4. Flour the work surface lightly, place the dough on it and dust it with flour so that nothing sticks when rolling out. Roll out the dough 3 cm thick with a round biscuit cutter (6 cm) cut out scones from the dough.
  5. Place the scones on the baking sheet and brush with a whisked egg. Bake in the preheated oven on the middle rack for 15-20 minutes.
  6. The scones taste delicious even when they are lukewarm.
  7. Note: The preparation of the delicious scones is very easy. Flour is mixed with baking powder as a leavening agent and then the cold butter is incorporated. Then the dough is quickly put together with the milk and not kneaded. This gives scones their typical consistency.
