Ingredients

  • 400 g squid (s) cut into pieces, frozen, precooked
  • 1 onion (s), red, finely diced
  • 4 medium tomato (s), diced
  • 0.5 ½ bunch parsley, smooth
  • Balsamico bianco or other light vinegar
  • salt and pepper
  • Olive oil, high quality
  • 1 clove / garlic, optional

Instructions

  1. Thaw the squid pieces, drain them and briefly heat them in the microwave, then drain them again.
  2. Make a vinaigrette from vinegar, salt, pepper, if desired a squeezed clove of garlic and good olive oil and add the still warm squid pieces. Chill for several hours, or better overnight. The vinegar should make the meat as tender and tender as possible.
  3. Later fold in the onion and tomato cubes and the chopped parsley. If necessary, add seasoning.
  4. Instead of frozen ones, it works well with squid pieces from the cooling shelf, which are even available from a well-known discount store from time to time.
  5. Squid salad is on almost every menu in Croatia and is our favorite and most eaten starter. Everywhere it is prepared a little differently. You can get salata od hobodnice (octopus, the squid with long red arms) or salata od sepe (sepia, calmar, the squid with small arms and the tube-shaped, mostly white body).
