Ingredients

  • 6 large potato (s)
  • 1 onion (s)
  • 2 tablespoon flour
  • 1 egg (s)
  • 1 pinch (s) salt and pepper
  • Oil for frying

For the sauce:

  • 200 ml water
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • some stalks dill
  • Pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Peel the potatoes and onions and turn them through the meat grinder or grate them on a fine grater (star grater). Add egg, flour, salt and pepper, mix well.
  2. Spoon the potato mixture into the hot pan with oil and fry on both sides.
  3. For the sauce, puree the water, garlic, dill and salt in a blender with the hand blender. Serve in a bowl.
  4. Deruni is a very traditional and classic Ukrainian dish. A quickly prepared evening meal. In Ukraine, deruni are usually served with garlic sauce or with smetana (crème fraîche). Garlic and dill are an integral part of Ukrainian cuisine and are found in many Ukrainian dishes.
