Ingredients
For the yeast dough:
- 500g flour
- 20 g yeast
- 250 ml milk
- 100 g butter
- 20 g suar
For covering:
- 500 g quark
- 3 egg (s)
- 900 g onion (s)
- 800 g bacon
- salt and pepper
- 2 teaspoons, heaped caraway seeds

- First, make a yeast dough from the ingredients listed. Let the dough rise for 30 minutes, then knead, roll out on a baking sheet and let rise again for 20-30 minutes.
- While the dough is rising, peel and dice the onions and dice the bacon. Lightly fry the onions, preferably in stages. Remove from the pan and fry the bacon until translucent. Drain the fried fat. Let the onions and bacon cool down a little.
- Mix the quark with the remaining ingredients, add the slightly cooled onions and bacon, mix everything well and spread on the dough. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 ° C top / bottom heat for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
- The bacon cake tastes best when consumed warm. It can be prepared well.
