Heh (Hwe) from Fish

He (hwe) from fish is a spicy, aromatic, and original appetizer. According to this recipe, he is made from pike perch. Pike perch fillet turns out to be moderately spicy, tender, and very tasty. However, due to the presence of vinegar, it is better to eat this fish snack in small portions.

Ingredients

  • Pike perch fillet with skin – 500 g
  • Carrots – 150 g (1-2 pcs.)
  • Onions – 200 g (2 pcs.)
  • Acetic acid 70% – 1 tbsp
  • Vegetable oil – 100 ml
  • Ground coriander – 1 teaspoon
  • Ground black pepper – 1 teaspoon
  • Ground red pepper – ½ teaspoon
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon

Directions

  1. Remove the skin from the fish fillet. Then wash the fish, blot with a paper towel, and cut into strips of 3-4 cm.
  2. Put the chopped fish in a deep bowl, pour in the acetic acid, and mix quickly. We send the pike perch to the refrigerator for 30 minutes (the fish should turn white).
  3. Peel the carrots and onions.
  4. Cut the onion into thin half-rings.
  5. Grate the carrots for the Korean carrots.
  6. We take out a bowl of fish from the refrigerator and spread a layer of onion on the pike perch fillet.
  7. Onion – a layer of carrots.
  8. Sprinkle everything with salt, coriander, red and black peppers.
  9. Pour vegetable oil into a ladle and heat to a very hot (almost boiling) state.
  10. Pour the oil into a bowl of fish and vegetables. Mix everything thoroughly. We send the fish to the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.
