Herring, Apple and Potato Forshmak

Herring, apple and potato forshmak is an excellent appetizer for a festive table. And not only. πŸ™‚

Ingredients

  • Salted herring – 250-300 g
  • Apple – 400 g
  • Potatoes – 200 g
  • Onions – 200 g
  • Sunflower oil – 80 g (to taste)
  • Ground black pepper – 0.5 teaspoon (to taste)

  • Eggs – 2 pcs.

Directions

  1. Wash the potatoes, cover with cold water, boil until tender over low heat, covered (about 20 minutes).
  2. Peel the potatoes.
  3. Cut the herring, thoroughly remove the bones (if very salty, soak it).
  4. Peel, wash, chop the onion.
  5. Heat a frying pan, pour in vegetable oil. Put the onion in hot oil. SautΓ© the onion in vegetable oil until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes).
  6. Peel and core the apples.
  7. Pass all components through a meat grinder.
  8. Mix everything, season with oil, pepper to taste.
  9. Herring, apple, and potato forshmak is ready. Place on a herring maker and garnish with boiled egg slices.
