Homemade Loaf of Bread

The bread turns out to be incredibly airy, light, and porous, it is made from very simple products, without eggs and milk – only water, yeast, and flour. The bread is soft and springy, does not crumble when sliced, and the crust is appetizing and crispy. After making bread at home using this recipe, you will no longer want to buy bread in the store.

Ingredients

  • Drinking water – 210 ml
  • Refined vegetable oil – 30 ml
  • Dry yeast – 5 g (1 teaspoon)
  • Sugar – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon
  • Flour – 350 g + for working with dough
  • Milk (optional) – 1 tbsp

Directions

  1. Sift the flour (2 cups, 250 ml + 1 tablespoon) into a deep bowl with wide edges.
  2. Add dry ingredients to flour – yeast, sugar, and salt. Pour the water into a bowl with dry ingredients. Add vegetable oil.
  3. Stir the ingredients with a spoon. Then continue kneading with your hands, collecting the dough in a lump. It is better to finish kneading the dough on the table. Do not add flour, the dough will stick slightly to your hands at first, but then the gluten will come out and the dough will begin to lag behind the surface.
  4. The dough turns out to be pliable, soft but keeps the shape of a bun well. Place the dough in a bowl and cover with a lid or plastic wrap.
  5. Leave the bowl with the dough in a warm place for 30-40 minutes, the dough should increase by 2-3 times.
  6. After the time has elapsed, put the dough on a floured surface, not crushing it, lightly dust it with flour and use your fingers to form a cake with a diameter of 20-25 cm.
  7. Roll the cake into a roll. Roll the resulting roll into one more roll – transverse. Take a roll, form a cake with your fingers.
  8. Roll the dough into a roll, shape it into a loaf, place in a rectangular baking dish, cover with cling film, and leave to rise for 30 minutes. When about 15 minutes have passed, turn on the oven to preheat to 180 degrees. Brush the surface of the loaf with milk.
  9. Sprinkle flour on the surface of the loaf (you can use a strainer). Using a sharp knife, carefully make several diagonal cuts on the surface of the dough. Bake bread in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 30 minutes (until golden brown), focusing on the characteristics of your oven.
  10. Remove the homemade loaf from the mold and cool completely on a wooden board or on a cloth towel. Ruddy, appetizing and crispy crust, a soft porous crumb of warm homemade bread, its amazing taste and aroma – it’s impossible to come off!
