Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice (long grain rice)
  • 0.5 ½ cup almond (s), peeled
  • 0.5 stick ½ cinnamon
  • 6 cup water
  • 0.5 ½ cup sugar
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • 1 lime (s), untreated, remove the zest it

Instructions

  1. First grind the rice as finely as possible, this is best done with a stand mixer or something similar.
  2. Then mix the ground rice, almonds, cinnamon stick, lime zest and vanilla sugar in a large enough container. Pour 3 cups of water on top and leave to rest for at least 5 hours, but preferably overnight.
  3. Now stir the mixture until it is smooth. Add another 2 cups of water. Now push this mass through a cotton cloth and catch the water. Press until really no more water comes out.
  4. Add the remaining cup of water to the collected water and add the sugar to taste. This amount of water and sugar can also be varied according to taste. Place in a cool place and serve over ice cubes.
  5. It doesn`t matter how big the cups are, the only important thing is that you use a cup for measuring. Instead of water you can also use fresh coconut milk, then it is a Horchata de Coco.
