Oven-Baked French Fries with Egg White

The oven-baked potatoes in this recipe are very similar to fries. Usually, a large amount of vegetable oil is used to make fries. In this case, no oil is required at all, and egg white and spices are enough to give a crisp crust. The result is tender and ruddy potato sticks!

Ingredients

  • Potatoes – 500 g
  • Egg white – 1 pc.
  • Salt – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Ground paprika – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Dried thyme – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Dried rosemary – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Ground black pepper – to taste

Directions

  1. Peel the potatoes and wash well in running water. Cut the potatoes into cubes, preferably the same size.
  2. Transfer the sliced ​​potatoes to a deep bowl, cover with cold water and rinse well to remove any remaining starch. Repeat this process several times to make the water clear.
  3. Place the potato wedges in a colander and shake several times to drain all the liquid. Pat dry well with paper towels to keep the potatoes dry. Turn on the oven to heat up to 200 degrees.
  4. Shake the egg white lightly with a fork; you do not need to beat much.
  5. Add salt, black pepper, paprika, dried thyme, and rosemary. Use any dried herbs you like. Stir to dissolve the salt.
  6. Pour the protein mixture over the potato wedges. Mix well so that each wedge is covered with a layer of protein.
  7. It is best to use a non-stick mat for baking. In this case, the finished potato is easily removed and does not stick. If you don’t have a mat, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and line out the potato wedges. Send the potatoes to bake in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 15-25 minutes. The baking time depends on the power of the oven and the size of the cubes cut. The finished potatoes should be browning and pierce easily.
  8. The fries are ready in the oven.
  9. Place the hot potatoes on a plate and serve. These baked potatoes go well with sour cream, ketchup, or other suitable sauce.
