Pork Stewed with Sauerkraut

A winter dish for those who love sauerkraut. An excellent hearty lunch or dinner can be prepared with pork and sauerkraut. The dish is quite independent, but you can serve boiled potatoes with it.

Cook: 2 hour

Servings: 5-6

Ingredients

  • Pork pulp – 700-800 Grams
  • Sauerkraut – 1 Kilogram
  • Onions – 3 Pieces
  • Vegetable oil – 5 Tbsp. spoons
  • Ground paprika – 1-2 teaspoons
  • Cumin – 1 Teaspoon
  • Garlic – 1-2 Cloves (optional)
  • Salt – 2/3 Teaspoons
  • Ground black pepper – 0.5 Teaspoons
  • Broth or water – 0.5 L

Directions

  1. Peel and cut onions into cubes, put them in a frying pan with a spoonful of vegetable oil. Fry for 3-4 minutes. Now add the minced garlic.
  2. Add paprika to the onion, mix and fry for a few more minutes.
  3. Cut the pork into cubes and fry in vegetable oil. You can fry in a pan, or you can fry in the same saucepan in which we will stew the meat with cabbage.
  4. Add the onion to the fried meat, mix and add broth or water. Add salt and pepper. Close with a lid and simmer for 30 minutes.
  5. If you have very sour sauerkraut, soak it in cold water and then squeeze it out. Add cabbage to meat.
  6. Add the caraway seeds and mix. Add more water or broth if necessary. Close with a lid and simmer for 30 minutes.
  7. And now our dish is ready. We serve it to the table!
