Potato Casserole with Bacon and Cheese

Today I’m making a potato casserole with bacon and cheese. This is a very satisfying and self-sufficient dish. Potato casserole is juicy and aromatic. Be sure to cook and try!

Ingredients

  • Bacon – 250 g
  • Potatoes – 6 pcs.
  • Butter – 60 g
  • Hard cheese – 120 g
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper – to taste
  • Dry Italian herbs – to taste

Directions

  1. Line the baking dish with foil. We take the foil with a margin because before baking, you will need to close the dish on all sides. Layout the strips of bacon on a foil-lined form. The bacon should hang over the sides so that it can later cover the potatoes.
  2. Cut the potatoes into thin slices.
  3. Spread a layer of potatoes on the bacon. We put the slices overlapping so that there is no gap.
  4. Pre-freeze the butter and cut it into cubes. Place the pieces of butter on top of the potatoes.
  5. Add a little salt, taking into account the salinity of the bacon and cheese, and black pepper. Sprinkle with aromatic herbs (I have a mixture of Italian herbs).
  6. Rub the hard cheese on a coarse grater and put some of the cheese in the next layer.
  7. Then all the layers are repeated again until the form is filled: potatoes, pieces of butter, salt, pepper, aromatic herbs, and grated cheese. The last layer should be potatoes. Cover the potatoes with bacon.
  8. Wrap the potatoes with bacon in foil. We put the potato dish in the oven, preheated to 190 ° C, for 1 hour.
  9. 10-15 minutes before cooking, open the foil and put the form back in the oven to brown the bacon.
  10. Baked potatoes with bacon and cheese are ready. Delicious, cook, and taste!
