Ingredients

  • 1 kg jacket potato (s)
  • 2 onions)
  • 100 g ham or bacon, diced
  • 4 fish fillet (s) (matjes)
  • 1 bunch dill (alternatively dill spice)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • salt
  • Pepper, white, freshly ground
  • 250 ml cream
  • Butter for the baking dish

Instructions

  1. Do not pre-cook the potatoes too soft. Peel and cut in slices. Peel and finely chop the onions. Cut the herring fillets crosswise into strips, wash and finely chop the dill.
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter. Fry the onions and bacon in a pan until translucent. Then fill half of the potato slices and the onion mixture into the mold, spread the matjes strips over it and cover with dill. Then add the remaining potato slices and the rest of the onion mixture and lightly salt and pepper (not too much, as the ham is already salty).
  3. Then pour the cream over everything and slide it onto the middle rack of the cold oven and bake at 200 degrees for about 45 minutes.
  4. Serve hot.
