Potato Waffles

The waffle iron is a very handy device! In addition to sweet waffles in the usual sense, you can cook in it other dishes that we are used to cooking in a different way. One of these dishes is potato pancakes, which are miraculously transformed into potato waffles by means of a waffle iron!

Ingredients

  • Potatoes – 300 g
  • Large onions – 0.5 pcs.
  • Egg – 1 pc.
  • Flour – 1 tablespoon.
  • Sunflower oil – 1 tablespoon. + to lubricate the waffle iron
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste

Directions

  1. Peel the potatoes and onions. Cut the vegetables into slices and transfer to a blender or food processor bowl.
  2. Use a knife attachment to chop the onions and potatoes into a patchy puree. (If you don’t have this kind of chopper, just finely grate the onions and potatoes as you would on regular pancakes.)
  3. Beat an egg into the resulting potato-onion gruel, pour in a little sunflower oil, add flour, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Grind the ingredients again.
  5. This is the dough for potato waffles.
  6. Heat the waffle iron for thick waffles, oil the plates if necessary. Place the potato dough on plates, 1-1.5 tablespoons each. for each waffle.
  7. Cook potato pancakes in the electric waffle iron as much as your waffle iron needs.
  8. In total, about 9 potato waffles are made.
  9. Serve hot potato waffles with sour cream as a snack or as a first course.
