Shahi Paneer

Shahi paneer is a royally rich Indian dish with soft cheese, paneer. Spicy, aromatic from a bouquet of spices and warming due to chili pepper. It is cooked quickly and is usually served with rice.

Servings: 3-4

Ingredients

  • Paneer – 400 grams (or Adyghe cheese)
  • Tomato – 2 Pieces
  • Bulgarian pepper – 1 Piece
  • Onions – 1-2 Pieces
  • Garam masala – 1 Teaspoon
  • Asafoetida – 1 Teaspoon
  • Ginger, grated – 1 teaspoon
  • Cream – 50 Milliliters
  • Salt – To taste
  • Sugar – 1 Teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp (or ghee oil)
  • Ground chili pepper – To taste

Directions

  1. Prepare all the food you need.
  2. Heat oil in a frying pan, add spices, heat a little. Add chopped onion and sauté until soft.
  3. Add tomatoes, cut into small cubes. Put them out (about 5 minutes). If the tomatoes are acidic, add sugar to taste.
  4. Add cream, salt to taste, stir and simmer for another 5 minutes. The amount of cream depends on how thick you want your dish to be.
  5. Add finely chopped peppers, stir.
  6. Now it’s paneer’s turn. Stir gently to keep the pieces intact. Cover with a lid and simmer for about 3 minutes. Turn off the stove and let it sit for 5 minutes for the paneer to absorb all the aromas.
