Ingredients

  • Eggs – 4 pcs.
  • Tomatoes – 5 pcs.
  • Bulgarian red pepper – 1/2 pc.
  • Fresh chili pepper – 1/2 pc.
  • Bulb onions – 1 pc.
  • Garlic – 3 cloves
  • Sugar – 1 teaspoon
  • Ground sweet paprika – 1 teaspoon
  • Black peppercorns – 6 pcs.
  • White peppercorns – 5 pcs.
  • Coriander, grains – 10 pcs.
  • Dry basil – 1 teaspoon
  • Parsley (finely chopped) – 1 teaspoon
  • Green onion (finely chopped) – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Vegetable oil – for frying

Directions

  1. Finely chop the bell pepper.
  2. Chop the onion.
  3. Chop the garlic finely.
  4. Peel hot peppers and grind them too.
  5. Cut the tomatoes together with the seeds.
  6. Grind all the spices in a mortar: two types of pepper, coriander, basil and paprika.
  7. Pour vegetable oil into a preheated pan, fry the garlic and hot pepper for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Add onion.
  9. Send bell pepper and 1 teaspoon of sugar there.
  10. Add tomatoes. Simmer over low heat for 8 minutes, add all the spices and salt.
  11. Spoon into a stew for each egg, make a small indentation and pour the eggs into it.
  12. Continue to fry the shakshuka over low heat for 5-6 minutes, until tender. The egg white should turn white and the yolk should remain runny.
  13. Sprinkle with herbs before serving. Serve in a skillet.
