Shakshuka’s main ingredients are tomatoes, eggs, and olive oil, but shakshuka is prepared differently in each country. We present you with a basic recipe for this delicious dish.

Ingredients

  • Chicken eggs – 4 pcs.
  • Tomatoes – 4 pcs.
  • Garlic – 4 cloves
  • Hot pepper – 0.5 pod
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon without top
  • Ground paprika – 1 teaspoon
  • Ground black pepper – 0.25 teaspoon
  • Olive or vegetable oil, for frying – 70 g

Directions

  1. We peel the tomatoes. Cut 4 tomatoes crosswise, fill with boiling water, leave for 1-2 minutes, rinse with cold water, and easily remove the skin.
  2. Cut the prepared tomatoes into medium-sized cubes. Clean 4 cloves of garlic, wash, chop finely.
  3. Cut half of the hot pepper into thin rings. In a frying pan with a thick bottom, heat 70 grams of olive oil or other vegetable oil, add the prepared garlic, mix.
  4. Add the prepared hot pepper, mix again, and lay in the diced tomatoes.
  5. Make a small fire and simmer for about 12 minutes, stirring occasionally. In the process of stewing, add 1 teaspoon of salt without top or to taste, 1 teaspoon of sweet paprika, and ¼ teaspoon of black pepper.
  6. Gently break 4 eggs into a frying pan, fry for 3-4 minutes over low heat so that the white is fried and the yolk remains liquid, like fried eggs in fried eggs. Sprinkle the yolks with a pinch of salt and a pinch of black pepper.
  7. Serve the shakshuka in a frying pan, with a lot of fresh homemade bread, so that you can dip in the sauce.
