- 2 ½ kg strawberries
- 300 g cane suar, brown
- 700 ml Pitu (Aguardente de Cana)
- 100 ml strawberry syrup
- 12 bottles sparkling wine
- ice cubes

- Dissolve the cane sugar in the pitu the day before.
- Wash, clean and quarter the strawberries. Keep stirring the cane sugar pitu mixture in between. By the time the strawberries are cleaned, the cane sugar should have dissolved quite a bit.
- Add the strawberry syrup and stir vigorously again. Pour over the strawberries, stir gently. If not all of the strawberries are floating in the alcohol, add a little more pitu. Place in the refrigerator until the next day.
- On the day of the party, when the guests come, put the ice-cold strawberry and pitu mixture on the table, put ice cubes and chilled sparkling wine - I prefer dry rosé - next to it in the champagne cooler.
- Now put 1 - 2 ice cubes in the glass, add 1 scoop of strawberry-pitu mixture and fill up with sparkling wine. For everyone, the mixture can be made as strong as they want and can tolerate. Some also add mineral water.
- Depending on how strongly the punch is mixed, it is enough for 20 - 40 guests. If something remains of the strawberry-pitu mixture, you can still drink it or freeze it for the next few days.
