- 210 g flour
- 140 g butter
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1 egg (s)
- 1 pinch (s) salt
- 100 g white bread
- 500 g caramel syrup
- 3 tablespoon lemon juice

- For the dough, first add the butter to the flour in small pieces and roughly mix the two together with your hands. Then add salt, water and egg and knead a smooth dough. Shape the dough into a ball and let it rest in the refrigerator for about 20 to 30 minutes.
- During this time, prepare the filling: crumble the white bread, mix it with the syrup and mix in the lemon juice.
- Now roll out the dough on a floured work surface and cut out a circle the size of the tart pan. Pour the rolled out dough into the greased pan, press down on the sides and cut off any excess dough.

- Bake the syrup cake in the oven preheated to 180 ° C for about 50 minutes.

- The recipe is best for a tart pan with a diameter of 18 to 22 cm, otherwise the filling will be a little too little. If you only have a larger shape, you can increase the amount of filling.
