Turkish Bagels with Sesame Seeds

Delicious Turkish sesame buns – simita. Very appetizing bagels made from yeast dough – with a crispy crust with toasted sesame seeds, tender inside. Delicious buns for breakfast!

Ingredients

  • Flour – 600 g
  • Warm water (38-40 ° С) – 200 ml
  • Warm milk (38-40 ° С) – 100 ml
  • Butter (softened) – 50 g
  • Sugar – 2 tbsp
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon
  • Dry yeast – 7 g

For syrup:

  • Water – 200 ml
  • Honey (sugar) – 2 tbsp
  • Sesame seeds (toasted) – 100 g

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine yeast, sugar, warm milk, warm water. Stir well until the yeast dissolves.
  2. Add flour and salt to the resulting mixture, mix.
  3. Then add softened butter.
  4. Knead the dough for 7-8 minutes. The dough is elastic and not sticky. Cover the bowl with the dough with plastic wrap and leave warm for 1-1.5 hours. During this time, the dough should double in volume.
  5. Prepare the syrup: combine warm water with honey in a cup, stir until honey dissolves.
  6. Knead the risen dough, put it on a work surface, sprinkle with flour if necessary. Divide the dough into 10 equal portions. Round each part and leave for another 30 minutes.
  7. Roll each piece of dough into a thin rope 80 cm long. Fold the rope in half and intertwine the ends, fasten the edges well. Form a donut.
  8. Dip each bagel in syrup.
  9. Then roll in toasted sesame seeds on all sides. Transfer the bagels to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with plastic wrap and leave for 30 minutes. Bake in a preheated oven at 190 degrees for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
