Ingredients

  • 2 rolls (souls, baguettes) or similar, vegan
  • 1 can jackfruit
  • 40 g soy ranules
  • 1 large onion (s)
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • oil for frying
  • water
  • 2 pinch (s) smoked salt
  • 2 pinches cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons paprika powder
  • 130 ml BBQ sauce, vegan
  • 2 tomato (s)
  • 4 leaves lettuce

Instructions

  1. Drain the jackfruit, rinse with water and drain. Tear the jackfruit pieces into fibers with your fingers and cut the sturdy pieces into small pieces with a knife. Halve the onion and cut into fine strips, press the garlic.
  2. Add the oil to the pan and fry the onions with the garlic over medium heat. Add the soy chops and jackfruit and fry until hot. Deglaze with a little water, add the spices and simmer on low heat for 10 minutes. When the water has almost evaporated, add the BBQ sauce and let it simmer.
  3. Wash the lettuce and tomatoes, cut the tomatoes into slices.
  4. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees. Place the jackfruit vegetables in a baking dish and bake for 10 minutes.
  5. Cut open the souls or baguettes lengthways at the sides so that you can unfold them but not open them completely. Put the lettuce, tomatoes and jackfruit vegetables on top and close with the lid.
