- In addition, 20 small pieces of paper with sayings are required.
- Preheat the oven to 190 ° C.
- First stir the egg white with the sugar with a hand mixer until the sugar has dissolved (the egg white should not be beaten until stiff, but rather creamy / frothy). Next add the liquid and cooled butter, possibly the flavors, the food coloring and the water. Now just stir in the flour until you have a smooth dough.
- Now it`s time to bake:
- Place approx. 1 - 1 1/2 teaspoons of dough per circle on the baking tray and smooth it out (if you want, you can draw approx. 8 cm circles on a sheet of baking paper, which you turn over again for baking). Now bake the biscuits for about 5 minutes, please keep an eye on it, it may take longer or shorter depending on the oven - the edges should be lightly browned.
- I recommend only baking 3 circles per run at a time, as the cookies would cool down very quickly and otherwise break.
- Now you have to be quick. Place a small piece of paper with a saying in the middle of each circle and place one half on top of the other. The folded edge now e.g., place on a glass rim and fold down. Place them in a muffin tray to cool, so the biscuits keep their typical shape.
- Tip: I used a silicone mat for baking, it does not curl when baking and you get wonderful, even cookies out.
- It turns out to be around 18-20 fortune cookies.
