Wafer Rolls (Delicate Rolls with Starch)

Who doesn’t love wafer rolls? The waffle maker recipe will reveal the secret of this delicious treat. Starch is added to the dough for the tubes. The starch makes the wafer rolls more tender and crumbly. So, let’s start baking delicious waffle rolls.

Ingredients

  • butter or margarine 150 g
  • sugar 150 g
  • eggs 4 pcs.
  • potato starch 50 g
  • flour 150 g
  • water or milk 0.5 cups

Directions

  1. Whisk the softened butter with sugar, then, while whisking, add the egg yolks one at a time, stirring in the starch, flour, and water.
  2. Whisk the egg whites into a firm foam and add to the dough, stirring gently. The dough will not be thick (like kefir). Bake the wafer rolls immediately.
  3. Heat the waffle iron well, open, and pour a teaspoon of dough into the middle of the lower half. Close, press lightly, and bake for about 1 minute. Determine the baking time by the color of the wafers (the wafer rolls should be light brown, golden).
  4. Gently remove the finished waffles from the waffle iron (with a spatula or knife) and immediately roll up the hot (carefully, but very quickly) into a tube.
  5. Carefully transfer the hardened tubes to a dish. When the wafer rolls are completely cool, you can fill them with any cream.
