Waffle Lasagna with Chicken

Today I am sharing with you an original and simple recipe for making waffle lasagne with chicken. Of course, what my dish and lasagna have in common is that everything is stacked. But it’s delicious.

Ingredients

  • Waffles – 6 Pieces
  • Chicken Breast – 250 Grams
  • Flour – 1/2 Cup
  • Garlic Powder – 1 Teaspoon
  • Ground black pepper – 1 Pinch
  • Salt – 2 Pinches
  • Eggs – 3 Pieces
  • Breadcrumbs – 3 Tbsp. spoons
  • Vegetable oil – 150 Milliliters (for frying)
  • Hard cheese – 150 Grams
  • Tomato sauce – 2-3 Tbsp. spoons

Directions

  1. Prepare all the ingredients you need. Waffles can be bought at the store and are thin and crispy. You can also cook them yourself to make them thicker and softer. You can use any waffles, in any case it will be delicious!
  2. Cut the chicken breast into 4-5 mm thick plates, you can slightly beat off the pieces. Mix flour with salt, ground pepper and garlic powder. Dip the chicken pieces first in flour, then in loose eggs, and lastly in bread crumb
  3. Place the chicken breasts in hot vegetable oil and cook over medium heat until golden brown. If the heat is too high, the chicken will quickly burn out on top, but it will not fry inside, while on low heat the chicken will saturate too much oil, so medium heat is optimal.
  4. Place 2 wafer sheets on the bottom of the baking dish (if using thin crispy waffles) and trim them so that they lie flat on the bottom.
  5. Top with pieces of chicken breast and a few slices of pre-fried bacon.
  6. Sprinkle everything with grated cheese.
  7. Above – another layer of waffle and the rest of the chicken and bacon.
  8. Sprinkle with grated cheese.
  9. Cover again with 2 waffles, press down to make the layers connect as much as possible. My shape is not high, so the lasagna protrudes from the edges up, but there is nothing wrong with that, when baking the waffles will soften and the lasagne will slightly “sink” down. Bake the lasagne in the oven at 180 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
  10. Cut the finished lasagna into pieces, pour each piece with a gentle tomato sauce.
