Instructions

  1. It is best to buy untreated citrus fruits, then the peel can be used later.
  2. Bring 1 liter of water to the boil and dissolve the sugar while stirring while boiling. (The amount is enough for approx. 3 x lemonade recipe and keeps in the refrigerator for a long time). Let simmer for about 10 minutes. Set aside to cool, then in the refrigerator.
  3. Squeeze 6 of the oranges, 4 lemons and 4 limes and collect the juice. Cut 2 oranges, 1 lemon and 1 lime into small slices. In the case of untreated citrus fruits, the peel can stay on, treated citrus fruits must be peeled thinly in any case. The whiteness of the skin gives taste and does not have to be cut off.
  4. Put the juice with the cut fruits and the sprigs of mint in the refrigerator. Chill the rest of the water as well.
  5. When all the ingredients have cooled well, mix the juice-fruit mixture, about 1/3 of the sugar water and 1 liter of cold water and the ice cubes in a large bowl or container. Depending on your preference, you can now add more sugar water or normal water.
  6. Very refreshing in summer!
  7. In America, this lemonade is traditionally made non-carbonated. You can also use carbonated water if you like. I like it better without carbon dioxide.
