Mix the sugar, 125 ml of warm water and the yeast in a bowl and let stand for about 10 minutes. Then put all of the flour with the baking powder in the bowl and knead everything at a slow speed with the dough hook for 5 minutes, gradually adding more water until the dough is smooth. Now add the oil and continue kneading for 1 minute on medium speed.
Place the dough in an oiled bowl, rolling the dough over so that it is lightly covered with oil. Cover with a kitchen towel and let stand for 2 hours until the batter has doubled.
Then knock the dough down a little and divide it into 6 parts, shape the parts into balls. Place these 6 balls on a lightly greased baking sheet dusted with flour, flatten a little and let rise for 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 185 degrees C top / bottom heat.
Bake the buns in the oven for 25 minutes, brush with a little oil if necessary, so that the buns shine. Optionally, the buns can be sprinkled with poppy seeds or sesame seeds.
After baking, let them cool on a wire rack before cutting them apart.
Top the buns with hamburgers or other toppings according to taste.
