- Dice the rolls and mix with flour. Whisk milk with sugar and eggs and pour over. Stir everything and let the bread soak up the liquid.
- Heat vegetable fat or lard in a tall saucepan.
- Form dumplings with 2 tablespoons, similar to semolina dumplings, roll in the crumbs and fry until golden brown in the hot fat.
- Sprinkle the dumplings with cinnamon and sugar and serve with compote or vanilla sauce.
- There is also the variant with a shot, in which the cams are doused with mulled wine.
