Instructions

  1. Cut the onions into wedges or rings. Quarter and core the apples if possible unpeeled. Cut the quarters crosswise into not too thin slices.
  2. Sweat the onions in oil for about 10 minutes until golden. Spread the apple slices on top and place the rosemary sprig on top. Add the vinegar and cook, covered, over a mild heat for about 20 minutes. The onions should be very soft, but the apples shouldn`t be completely crumbled. Season to taste with salt, pepper and cane sugar. Whether the sugar is necessary at all depends on the taste of the apples.
  3. A nice side dish to pan-fried or grilled meat or to oven potato fritters.
