Instructions

  1. Peel, core and grate the apples and pears. Then put these in a large saucepan and mix well with the rest of the ingredients. Cover everything and let it steep for a few hours (it is best to let it stand overnight). Then bring the preserving sugar to the boil according to the instructions on the packet, remove the cinnamon stick and vanilla pod and pour the jam into jars that have been rinsed with hot water. Close immediately and turn upside down.
  2. This is a great jam to get rid of the apple and pear surpluses in September.
