Preheat oven to 220 degrees. Mix the flour, baking powder, sugar, vanilla sugar and salt in a bowl. Crumble the butter and flour mixture with your fingertips. Peel and roughly grate the apple. Add to the flour mixture along with the oatmeal, sugar beet syrup and egg. Knead everything briefly but thoroughly. Divide the dough into two equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Press the dough flat and cut into 4 parts each. Brush the scones with milk and bake until golden brown for 20 minutes. Serve lukewarm.
