Instructions

  1. The quantities are intended for a so-called fruit cake tray. That is significantly smaller than the tray from the 60 cm wide oven. Various comments recommend using double the amount for a normal-sized baking sheet, others also state that the recipe is suitable for a 28-inch springform pan.
  2. Dough:
  3. Work the flour, fat, sugar, egg and vanilla sugar into a dough and spread on a baking sheet. I always use a fruit cake tray, which is a little smaller than the usual tray. Then peel the apples, cut into pieces and mix with the applesauce in a bowl. Put the mixture on the dough.
  4. Streusel:
  5. Melt the fat in the saucepan, remove from the heat, mix the remaining ingredients and add. Let this mass cool down briefly and then create crumble by taking the dough in your hand and crumbling it between both hands. Of course, preferably over the cake on the baking sheet.
  6. Then bake in the preheated oven on the middle rack at approx. 175 degrees hot air for approx. 45 minutes. But be careful: Always watch, as the sprinkles burn quickly.
  7. Cream or vanilla ice cream goes well with it. You can also put chopped walnuts or the like on the apple mixture. And then the sprinkles.
