Instructions

  1. First preheat the oven to 180 ° C top and bottom heat. Then roll out the puff pastry and cut into six oblong strips of the same width. This is much easier if a ruler is used. If frozen puff pastry is used, it must be completely thawed beforehand.
  2. Then mix the sugar with the cinnamon well. Using a brush, spread some amaretto on the strips and sprinkle evenly with a little cinnamon sugar.
  3. Then, if possible, slice the apples into 2 mm thin slices. If you cannot adjust that exactly, you take a disc and put your finger behind it. If you can still see the shadow of the finger through the apple, it is exactly the right thickness of the apple slices. I only ever use two sides of the apple so that I get nice, round slices. Unfortunately, there is some waste, but in the end you get a much nicer result. You can eat the offcut directly or use it for a fruit salad.
  4. After the apple is sliced, spread the slices on the puff pastry. To get a flower-like result, it is best to start with small slices on the left and always place the next larger one next to it. It is important that the slices look out from above the puff pastry. The further the apple slices look out over the edge of the puff pastry, the more open the rose will be in the result.
  5. When the strip is completely covered with the apple, roll it up from the left. At the end, the apple roses should be completely enveloped in the puff pastry. Then press the end of the strip lightly against the puff pastry so that they stay closed while baking.
  6. So that the roses keep a nice round shape when they rise, they are baked in a muffin baking tray. You need 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, being careful not to burn the apple pieces too much. It is best to bake it far down in the oven.
  7. After baking, let it cool down briefly and carefully remove it from the pan with a blunt knife. If you like, dust them with powdered sugar before serving.
  8. The bowl looks slightly burnt, but you can`t taste it.
  9. They taste great when they are still slightly warm after baking. The apple-cinnamon scent seduces to be consumed immediately.
