Heat the milk and butter in a saucepan lukewarm. Put the flour, eggs, both sugar and lemon juice in a bowl. Make a well in the flour with a spoon and pour the warm (butter) milk into it. Crumble in the yeast and mix everything into a smooth dough. Finally, coarsely grate the apple and add it to the batter.
Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
Bake the tablespoon at a time on both sides in a frying pan.
Serve sprinkled with powdered sugar. I serve with sugared creme fraiche and plum jam.
The cakes are very filling. They also taste very good cold, e.g. as a snack for school / work.
If you don`t like it so sweet or if you want to serve the cakes with vanilla sauce, for example, you can reduce the amount of sugar. For us, however, it fits so exactly.
