Instructions

  1. Peel 3 - 4 asparagus spears per person and cook in salted water with a pinch of sugar, not too soft. Take out of the water and drain well.
  2. Wrap the asparagus spears with a large slice of Gouda cheese, wrap the cooked ham around it and secure with toothpicks. If you have sufficiently large ham slices, you can also put the cheese on the ham slice and wrap both together around the asparagus stalks.
  3. First turn the asparagus packet in flour, then in the egg and finally in the breadcrumbs. Heat a sufficiently large amount of oil in a pan and fry the asparagus packet until golden brown on both sides.
  4. Serve hot with potatoes as a main course, otherwise warm or cold as a small dinner or starter.
  5. The specified cooking time is only approximate and relates to cooking and frying asparagus.
  6. It is best to use good cooked ham, not the round or square shaped meat.
