First, the dates are coated with bacon (depending on how big the individual slices are, they can be cut in half beforehand) and then fixed with a toothpick.
Put the date and bacon packets in a pan with a little hot oil and fry them until they are crispy until they have reached the desired degree of browning. Take the hot dates out of the pan and add honey to the pan if you like and let it caramelize while stirring constantly, then deglaze with grape juice and bring to the boil. Now you can add cayenne pepper, chilli and salt to taste and add the dates again. Just let it boil down a little and you can really enjoy them, because they are best hot!

I always take a lot of honey and juice so that I have plenty of dip for the bread that I serve with it.
