Baked beans were the favorite dish of Louis Armstrong, the famous New Orleans jazz trumpeter. Since the beans are canned, the dish is pretty easy to prepare.
Put the oil in a hot saucepan and roast the onions in it. When the onions are light brown, add the garlic and roast until it is deeply browned. Now add the tomato paste, followed by the beans and the remaining ingredients. Cook briefly but thoroughly, season to taste.
