Rub the chops with the cut surfaces of the halved cloves of garlic, season with salt and pepper, then fry the chops in 1.5 tablespoons butter on each side and then place in an ovenproof dish.
Melt the remaining butter in a pan, fry the chopped onions and the sliced mushrooms. Scatter breadcrumbs on top, add white wine and cream and let simmer, season with salt and pepper. Spread the mixture over the chops and sprinkle with the grated cheese. Baked the dish in the oven at 275 degrees until the cheese is golden brown.
