Bring the barley and raisins with the spices to the boil in the water and cook for 30 minutes (or according to the package instructions). Stir occasionally during cooking several times.
Add the berries and almonds, turn the heat down and leave to soak for another 15 minutes over a very low heat.
Serve in cereal bowls with applesauce, crushed linseed and possibly fresh fruit.
Tip: If you soak the barley overnight, i.e. approx. 12 hours, in three times the amount of water, the cooking time is reduced to approx. 10 minutes. After the spring time, you pour off the spring water and boil the barley in the fresh water.
