Cut the beans in half. Fill a pot with water and salt well. Bring water to a boil. Once the water starts to boil, lower the heat and add the green beans to the water. Cook for about 1-2 minutes, until the beans are bright green and slightly soft.
Put the beans in ice water and let cool. Then place on paper towels and drain. Leave aside.
Cut 4 slices of bacon in half lengthways and then into small squares. Heat a large skillet on medium heat. Add chopped bacon and cook until crispy.
Add finely chopped onion and chopped garlic, fry until the onions are translucent.
Add the green beans to the skillet and stir. Sprinkle with flour and stir. The combination of flour and bacon fat gives the dish a thick consistency.
Add chicken broth and stir. Add more broth as needed until you reach the desired consistency.
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let cool slightly and serve.
