Instructions

  1. Put 2 cups of flour and the crumbled yeast in a bowl. Add 2 cups of lukewarm milk. Mix well until the yeast has melted. Let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
  2. Then add an egg, two cups of lukewarm milk, a pinch of salt and the rest of the flour. Stir the dough well until it bubbles. Then add the rolls cut into cubes or the white bread. Knead the dough on a floured work surface. Form 4 dumplings out of it, let rise for another 30 minutes. Then cook one dumpling after the other in plenty of boiling salted water for 10 minutes, then turn and cook for another 10 minutes. Important: Do not open the pot lid during the cooking time!
  3. Hungarian goulash or sauerbraten go well with it.
