Halve the stale bun crosswise and toast with the cut side down. Rub with a clove of garlic, season with salt, pepper and drizzle with plenty of olive oil. You can smooth the oil with a knife so that it penetrates more evenly.
The Fettunta goes wonderfully as an accompaniment to Black Forest ham, cheese, tomatoes, broccoli vegetables, olives, peperonata and everything else that the kitchen has to offer.
