Dice or tear the bread and place in a large bowl. Mix the milk, cream, sugar, vanilla sugar and the beaten eggs well. Pour everything onto the bread cubes, mix well and let stand for 10 - 30 minutes.
In the meantime, preheat the oven to 200 ° C and line a gratin dish with baking paper or grease it lightly.
Wash the peaches, cut in half, core, cut into small cubes and carefully add to the bread mixture. Pour the mixture into the mold, sprinkle with the almonds, top with flakes of butter and bake in the oven for approx. 30 - 40 minutes.
Let rest for a few minutes before cutting.
Tastes delicious warm as well as cold.
Tip:
Try with other fruit, also from a can. In terms of quantity, the fruit should weigh between 150 and 200 g. A small can of mandarins is ideal for this!
Note:
Adjust the amount of milk depending on how dry the bread is. It is better to take a little less milk beforehand if the bread is not very dry.
