Instructions

  1. Put the warm water and milk in a bowl, mix in the sugar and crumble in the yeast cube. Let stand for 5 minutes. Please do not use dry yeast, this will prevent the buns from opening and becoming so fluffy.
  2. Then add the flour, salt, an egg and the softened butter and knead everything into a smooth dough, either with your hands or with the food processor. Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour. It has to increase its volume significantly.
  3. Then shape buns from the dough. Roll approx. 90 grams of dough per bun in the floured palms of the hands into an even, round ball and then press this on a baking sheet lined with baking paper to form a flat disc with a diameter of 8 - 9 cm. That makes 10 buns. The dough pieces now have to rise for another hour. This is especially important, because otherwise you won`t get fluffy buns.
  4. Whisk an egg with 2 tablespoons of water and 2 tablespoons of milk and, after the walking time, brush the buns with it and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  5. Bake the buns in an oven preheated to 200 degrees top / bottom heat for about 16-20 minutes until the surface is golden brown. Take out of the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
