Scald tomatoes briefly in boiling water, peel them. Cut crosswise and stone. Cut the pulp into small cubes and season with salt and pepper. Wash the basil, cut the leaves into fine strips and mix them with the diced tomatoes. Peel the garlic and press it into the olive oil.
Brush the bread slices with the garlic oil. Toast the bread on both sides until crispy (oven or toaster). Cover with the marinated tomato cubes while still warm.
